Horseback riding? Not the usual activity associated with vacationing on Maui. However, this takes on a whole new meaning when you consider horseback riding along the West Maui mountains and coastline.
The ranch was established in the early 1940s and is still family owned and operated. Your 2 hour ride starts at the corral where you will be greeted by the experienced staff who will introduce you to the real Paniolo horses you will be riding for the day. You will ride up into the lush rain forest at 3000 feet and gaze down into the Eki Crater to view some of Maui's waterfalls (your guide will be happy to take your picture with you on your horse with the mountains in the background). Your ride continues down through the Waihe'e Valley to the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean on Maui's North Shore (your guide will again be happy to take your picture with you on your horse and the majestic seascape of the Pacific Ocean as a background). You will then finish your ride by returning back up the hills to the ranch where refreshments are provided.
Not sure if you are ready for this trip? The staff at the ranch are ready to accommodate all levels of riding experience from first timers to advanced riders. Your horse will be chosen for you based on your level of experience. Participants must be at least 7 years old and under 250 pounds. (Minors must be accompanied by an adult.)
If you choose, you may also participate in a real Maui Country BBQ. The lunch menu is BBQ Ribs, smoked BBQ chicken, country-style beans, salad, rolls, and refreshments. This is offered to all before or after your trail ride depending on your choice of a morning and afternoon excursion.
This exceptional Aloha ride is available twice daily - Monday through Saturday.
Check in time is 8:15 a.m., departing for the 2 hour ride at 8:30 a.m. or Check in time is 12:15 p.m., departing for the 2 hour ride at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $110.00 per person plus tax.
Lunch is an additional $20.00 per person plus tax and is served at 11:30 a.m.
Another choice you have is a combination horseback riding and helicoptor tour. This includes a 2 hour horseback ride, a real Maui country style BBQ, and concludes with a spectacular 25-30 minute flight through the West Maui Mountains. Check in time for this adventure is 7:45 a.m. Cost is $335.00 per person.
